Update: HarperCollins expected release date for How to Be Heard” is December 15, 2024

There’s protesting, marching, talking, and then walking the walk, but when push comes to shove and someone challenges your principles, could you stand?

Would you shut down your platform to be heard?

Professor and author of “Bad Feminist,” Roxane Gay, informed her literary agent that she would not share the same platform as an alleged white supremacist. Gay asked that her book project, “How to Be Heard,” be pulled from the Simon and Schuster 2018 release schedule.

Could you, in the face of adversity, stand for your principles?

One response to “Principled: Could You, Would You, Leave it All Behind? UPDATE.”

  1. When we don’t, we experience an inner degradation. It’s a quick learn and turnabout, or a quick new beginning on an adulterated path. We see the forfeiture of principle all around us. The only way to combat that decline, is to stand stronger, and encourage others to do the same. Often one person standing among many others is all it takes to bring about a strength en mass. I don’t know whether Roxanne Gay did the most useful thing or not. Could her presence there affect change for good by its contrast and juxtaposed stance? We can’t know. I respect her decision. It is possible to honor one’s principles either way. Her choice is what must be respected. And only she carries the weight of it.
