“Your eyes won’t believe what your mind can’t conceive, ohhh, ohhh, Nights Over Egypt”
While scrolling BlueSky entries, I found myself pausing at RoyalBlood’s image of an orange orb that seemed to balance on a three-dimensional triangle also known as a pyramid. The caption: “Night has fallen on Giza.” Next thing I know, I’m singing The Jones Girls’ version of “Nights over Egypt.”
It’s not even the chorus of the song —but those lyrics are so powerful and packed with truth… almost biblical even. We as humans mistakenly assign a name or label to an entity, thereby trapping it in that structure and not allowing our minds to perceive it as anything else. We brand it —forever searing it into a thing. But here’s the irony, it also traps us, the seer too! So, if that thing ever appears to us in a different form, it becomes in invisible because “your eyes won’t believe what your mind can’t perceive…. ohhh, ohhh, Nights over Egypts”
So is “naming things” a blessing wrapped in a curse? ~Mel
