On the First Day of Kwanzaa, I dreamed of us working together with a common goal to better our community.
First Principle – Umoja (Unity). It is also the name of the first matriarchal society in Kenya, East Africa.
The Samburu men discarded the women. The women created a sanctuary. The women banned the men from the newly established village.
Not only did they become self-sufficient they started a school so their future would be enlightened.
The matriarchal societies have spread but not without a fight.
Of course, old ways die-hard.
