FOG Disposal

If you’re a recycling or re-purposing queen, such as I am, you save and recycle aluminum trays, tins, plastic bags, plastic cans, etc. Good thing too. Those receptacles come in handy when disposing of FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease).   Below is an easy way to use your disposable items such as, a used Starbucks coffee bag and newspaper plastic bag, to dispose of Fats, Oils and Grease accumulated after cooking your delicious meals.

By now we know Fats, Oils and Grease can clog our household pipes so imagine what happens when FOG gets into our sewers…

Not only is it nasty, unhealthy but it’s a costly repair when sewer backup visits your home.

Here in Georgia, the Fats, Oils, and Grease disposal program is a big campaign especially around the holidays.    Local governments and concerned citizens are working together to be good stewards of the earth.

If you’re properly disposing of your FOG instead of letting it run down the drain into your sewers, awesome! If your local government is helping the environment then there’s most likely a recycling location too.
